There were the three astronauts who miraculously made it home from the dangerous explosion on the failed 1972 Apollo 13 mission to the moon.
Did you know that command module pilot Jack Swigert Jr. who flew in that mission died of Bone Cancer? (August 30, 1931 - December 27, 1982)
According to page 51 from the "Review of NASA's Longitudinal Study of Astronaut Health" of 2002 it was probably a soft tissue sarcoma "where the committee’s Update of 2002 (IOM, 2003a) lists four health outcomes in the first category: soft tissue sarcoma, Hodgkin’s disease, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and chloracne."
As I understand it, the only one that could be considered a bone cancer would be soft tissue sarcoma.".

It's too bad he didn't come forward and let the world know, so that others could benefit from learning more about his rare condition, like Lance Armstrong did.
